50's Chrome Table Refinished

The Mangrove in Port-Louis

The Mangrove eco-system is a very special, strange world of plants, spread between land and sea

The mangrove vegetation is an "intractable" tangled thicket of bushes, largely composed of mangrove which, thanks to their aerial roots (or pneumatophores) feed on a soil saturated with salt water.

The soil, partly covered with mud is a "living space" for crabs (which are consumed here ... after having done "disgorge ".... some time !!!... ) and fish come to spawn in peace.
It should also not forget the "mosquitoes and many highly virulent ".... here (they are called yen-yen ).... I have" largely "paid the price ... !!

Overview, arriving on the footpath at this

Alas, today, mangroves, breeding ground for flora and wildlife is often polluted by "dumps" ... there are old fridges, trash bags ripped open .... and apparently more serious traces of heavy metals (lead, mercury ...) and Pesticides ...
Efforts are made to "change things ".... but the awareness of everyone ..... not always visit!
